Nothing Ventured

NothingGained.

Before the world was put on pause, I took a leap into the unknown. What I found on the other side changed everything about how I see risk, reinvention, and what it truly means to build something.

It started with pure curiosity. Before COVID reshaped the world, I found myself captivated by virtual reality. Not just as a technology, but as a feeling. That rush of stepping into another dimension, of forgetting where you were standing, of laughing out loud at something that wasn't even "real." I thought: if this does that to me, what does it do to everyone else? And more importantly, could I build a business around that joy?

That question became BigBoy VR. I had no roadmap. VR entertainment was a niche almost nobody was monetizing at scale. I didn't know if people would pay to essentially "play a game." But I ventured anyway. I put myself out there, set up the experience, and invited the world in. The world showed up. Customers came. Then they came back. Repeat business in a field people called a gimmick. That wasn't luck. That was proof.

The venture didn't fail.
The world changed around it.

Then COVID hit. It didn't just pause BigBoy VR. It ended the era it existed in. And as if that weren't enough, consumer VR exploded. The Meta Quest put a headset in every home. The magic I had been curating in a dedicated space was now sitting in someone's living room. Restarting BigBoy VR as it was would have been chasing a wave that had already passed.

Here's what most people miss about failure: it's often not failure at all. It's a pivot point wearing a disguise. BigBoy VR taught me the market for experience. For novelty, for something people can't get at home, for entertainment that creates a memory. That lesson didn't die with the business. It came with me.

Reinvention

The Next Venture

The party and events entertainment market has come back strong. People are hungry for celebration again: birthdays, corporate events, private parties. They want something elevated, something unexpected, something they'll talk about long after the night ends. That gap in the market is exactly where I'm planting my flag next.

The Mobile Star is the evolution of everything I've learned. That people pay for experiences that move them, that niche boldness beats generic wide appeal, and that you don't wait for the perfect moment. You build the perfect moment and bring it to them.

BigBoy VR was the venture. The Mobile Star is the gain.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained isn't just a saying for entrepreneurs. It's a lifestyle philosophy. It means tolerating uncertainty in exchange for the possibility of something extraordinary. It means that COVID shutting down your business isn't the end of the story. It's the end of a chapter. The story keeps going as long as you do.

So I keep going.
